Cali Adventures – Part IV

The Rubicon Trail. Quoted by many as ‘The best hike at Tahoe.’ Don’t get me wrong, the trail was scenic screensaver quality almost the entire way, but I definitely worked for these views. These stairs are just one of many, many that were climbed in the pursuit of the Tahoe magic. Naturally I took a photo almost every step, this is the condensed version of the amazing views.

Vikingsholm is a castle that is at the end of the 4.6 mile Rubicon trail located in Emerald Bay. It can be toured and it’s rich history brought to life on a tour that takes aprox. 30 minutes.  My favourite part of the story is about Mrs’ Knight’s tea house. Her tea house was not an average in the garden set up, her tea house was located on her own personal island! More information on this castle is available here: http://www.vikingsholm.com/history%20of%20eb.html

I had never see the work of  a woodpecker until I saw this poor pecked apart tree! Those tough little birds sure can do some damage. While hiking the trail the echo  of pecking can sometimes be heard off in the distance… Kind of eerie sometimes.
